2023 Xanadu Petit Verdot
This limited-release Xanadu Petit Verdot showcases the variety at its finest, crafted exclusively in exceptional vintages. Vibrantly perfumed with exotic aromas of rose petal, cassis, and dark chocolate, it reveals a rich, plush palate layered with forest fruits and Turkish delight. Firm tannins and generous flavours culminate in a warm, lingering finish, promising impressive cellar potential of over a decade.

Tasting Notes
Colour:Deep red with purple hues.
Nose:Concentrated, and perfumed displaying exotic aromas of rose petal, blackcurrant pastille, cassis and dark chocolate with hints of mocha and cloves/spice in the background.
Palate:The powerful palate is rich and plush, layered with dark fruits of the forest, Turkish delight balanced with firm acid backbone. The generous flavours combine with a big, dense tannin structure persisting through to a warm lingering fruit finish.

Conditions:The growing season began with a late budburst due to a cold winter, followed by a cool, wet spring, resulting in an extended flowering period, with good fruit-set for most varieties. The lack of Marri blossom meant that bird pressure was extreme. Though ripening was delayed for most varieties, the very dry, mild summer offered perfect ripening conditions, allowing fruit to retain wonderful natural acidity.

Winemaking Notes:The fruit was crushed and destemmed then fermented in a static fermenter at 25°C, during which the cap was managed by regular aerative pump overs. The wine was blended, filtered and bottled without any fining.
