Viticulture

Shiraz (83%) Graciano (17%)
2023
Margaret River
A very dry, mild summer offered perfect ripening conditions and harvest began mid-February. There wasn’t any significant rain to speak of at all throughout the white harvest, and the first of the reds, in fact the mild weather meant that the Shiraz and Graciano for the Vinework rose were beautifully ripe and harvested in order to preserve natural acidity, freshness and vibrancy. In summary, 2023 will be remembered as an excellent vintage in Margaret River.

Tasting Notes

Pure Salmon.
The bouquet of this vibrant Rose has an array of bright cranberry and strawberry primary fruits with delicate rose petal florals and hints of Turkish delight and musk. Savoury notes and hints of sweet aromatic spices from the Graciano sit subtly in the background.
The palate is luscious with sweet berry fruits and a lovely depth of flavour combined with a bright and delicate soft natural acidity. Lively and fruit driven with a classic Margaret River minerality yet also offering great chalky texture and a dry savoury finish.

Both the Shiraz and the Graciano components were harvested cold and pressed immediately to minimise colour extraction in the juice. After settling each batch was fermented in tank at a cool temperature using an aromatic yeast strain to preserve the primary fruit characteristics.

Rosé just how I like it – dry and savoury. There’s also a fragrance of red roses and warm spices with flavours of crunchy red apples and barely ripe strawberries. The perky acidity ensures the finish is fresh and clean.

An intriguing blend of Shiraz and Graciano (83% and 17% respectively) from the Margaret River. A cool fermentation in tank was designed to retain freshness. The colour is orange pink. Aromas swirl through spices and a mix of dry herbs and fresh garden herbs. Red fruits, cherries, raspberries, florals and citrus form a pleasing nose. Good flavours here and plenty of length. Bright acidity helps make this a delightfully refreshing style of Rose, with loads of flavour. Delicious and elegant. Enjoy it now and for the next few years.

Pale straw, just a hint of copper in the light. Toffee apple and baked bread aromatics. Red apple fruit drives the palate with a crunch of acidity lifting and driving it. As it flows, exotic spices build complexity and then a tannin grip ensures the finish dries well.
